Blog Introduction This blog is based on a recent book by the author which outlines a new theory postulating a future cultural evolution unfolding over the next several generations. The theory outlines the broad strokes of a new global perspective uniting peoples around the world in a civilization characterized by considerably increased collaboration among nation states and individual societies leading to what the author calls a new “Humanitarian Convergence”. The author traces an historic evolutionary process within social institutions through the dark ages, the renaissance, the industrial revolution, the space age and the modern internet age. The essential personal characteristics of individuals contributing to this evolutionary change are outlined and reduced to seven values that have stood the test of time. These values are then described and the possession of higher levels of these values have been the key determinants in cultural evolution within each of these civilization movements. The author then specifies the early indicators of a new trend for these individual value sets leading to a rise in humanitarian convergence over the next few generations. The book describes the nature of this new convergence on the institutions of societies including religion, economics, politics, capitalism and the family. The author proposes a fourteen step strategy for local communities and societies to take appropriate action to enable their society to adapt and function in this future convergence era. Finally the book outlines a methodology for any neighborhood, community or society to determine the citizen approved indicators that require specific attention by leaders of that society to enhance the progress toward their desirable cultural evolution.
